First powder day I've ever seen, and it was great! Left Golden around 7:00, to the basin by 8:15, and on the slopes till about 11:45! So much fun, and the trees were hiding powder even on my last runs. Anyway...
Sunrise and an inch of snow outside the apartment
Driving over the pass
Not a bad parking spot at all. About 8:15
Snow kept up most of the morning.
Fantastic conditions, especially mid mountain
Good to see some snow on the mountain again
Great day, so much fun. I might try and throw up some pictures from earlier in the season this week too, we'll see.
It was interesting some of the spots where the powder had been skied off or up top where the wind had blown some spots free and loaded others switching back and forth between the nice, slow powder and the fast, slick ice.
Welcome to the club. Now that you have tasted powder you will never again be satisfied without it.
I know, right? I can't even imagine if this had been a 'good' year!
I'll probably head up one last day this weekend before I have to head back to the Southeast just because I don't know when I'll get to ski anything like this again. Even if they 'only' have 200 acres open and you can't do anything ungroomed, if you only have to share it with a handful of other people, it's still pretty great!
How were the roads on LL pass? We went to LL the same day and it was a lot of fun. Kim's first "powder" day too. We were trying to decide btween Abasin and LL but had 3 tickets left to LL so we used those.
