Default 2012 Ski Southeast Summit at Snowshoe Mountain March 2-4, 2012

Alright, it's that time. The dates for this year's summit are March 2nd, 3rd, and 4th (Friday, Saturday, Sunday). I have a feeling it's going to be pretty sweet this year. Here are the details.

The 5th Annual SkiSoutheast.com Summit @ Snowshoe Mountain

When: March 2-4, 2012
Where: At Snowshoe Mountain Resort in West Virginia

-You will receive 25% off lodging for the weekend. I think they are already going to be having some really good deals going on as well. You must make reservations BY PHONE and when you call, tell them you have the Ski Southeast discount code, which is "SNOW".

-Messageboard members who make reservations will receive free Sunday lift tickets for everyone staying with you up to the maximum number of people allowed in your room. For example, if you are staying in a room that sleeps up to 4 people, you will receive up to 4 free lift tickets that are only valid for that Sunday.

When you make your reservation, make sure to give them your messageboard name and tell them how many people will be staying with you so we know how many tickets you will need. Then, make sure to add your name on here so we can keep a running list. I'll be cross-referencing names to make sure that you did in fact book lodging at Snowshoe. If you put your name on here but didn't reserve lodging through Snowshoe, you won't get the lifties for Sunday. The passes will be given out Saturday night at our Apres Ski Party which will be at either Hoot's or Moonshine.

-We're getting the hookup this year and we will be getting First Trax on Saturday AND Sunday mornings. A select few of us (25-30) will meet up around 8:15am each morning and get some skiing and riding in before the mountain opens to the general public. This is always a cool event and it is INVITATION ONLY. I'll either email or PM those of you who will be invited to join. I haven't decided yet, but more than likely a different set of people will be invited for each day. Gotta spread the love!

-The people who are selected for First Trax will get a tour of the snowmaking plant and equipment. Mike has done it before and he says it is pretty cool.

-We are going to be having some kind of contest leading up to the event where we will be giving away a season pass or two to Snowshoe for next season. We haven't figured out what it's going to entail, but I should be able to let you know sometime next week.

-That weekend is the Mountain Madness weekend at Snowshoe. There's going to be all kinds of events going on. Exact details aren't ironed out yet but I do know there will be a Battle of the Bands contest, beach/snow? volleyball, a snowboard competition, and some kind of GoPro video contest. I'm sure the nightlife will be awesome too.

ITINERARY (Check back as we may tweak things)

Friday
You're on your own, but for those that want to let's meet up and make some early turns. Click over to the Summit Messageboard thread to keep up with the latest! Several members are planning to get to Snowshoe early, meet up and make some turns!

Snowshoe has a great kick-off party Friday night in the Village. They welcome all SkiSoutheasters to join that party Friday night!

Saturday
8:15am
First tracks with only our crew and 30 friends on the mountain before Snowshoe drops the ropes for everyone else! We will fine tune how we are limiting first tracks on Sunday soon. This is an INVITATION ONLY event.

9:00am and all day!
Group Photo Op and Make Some Turns Together
Meet on the slopes at the Soaring Eagle Lift (just away from The Junction) at around 9am to say "hi" and take a group shot of all who are there at that time. Let's Ski, Ride, Be Crazy, Have Fun on the Mountain! We'll be doing some videos and photos all day. We'll be wearing black or gray SkiSoutheast.com Hoodies. (We did this last year and it was a great opportunity to meet some of the messageboard members that we'd been communicating with!)

We want to do A WHOLE LOT MORE ON SNOW VIDEO for this summit so we'll be posting a schedule of where we'll have our cameras on Saturday for those who want to be in on the film. Look for TheKENDOG with his GoPro Helmet Cam and Mike with his Blue, NorthFace Ski Jacket or Black SkiSoutheast Hoodie (depending on the temps)!

We'll be set up on these slopes at these times:

9-10am: Skip Jack & Grabhammer
10-10:30am: Gandy Dancer
10:30-11:30: Sawmill and Camp 99

We'll be skiing our way to many of these locations and on the side of the slopes filming. Look for us and stop and say hi and we'll sit and wait for your next trip by and catch your turns for the video.

2:00pm
A select few individuals who took part in First Trax will also get a tour of Snowshoe's snowmaking plant and equipment.

6:00-8:00pm
Après-Ski Party for SkiSoutheast.com Summit Attendees
Snowshoe Mountain is once again throwing a party for SkiSoutheast! We'll hold it at Moonshine Watering Hole in the Village! Snowshoe has said there will be some kind of drink specials for us.

We'd like to mingle more this season and just hang out with you guys. We will be bringing some new tees with us to give away...so be there and say hi!

Sunday
8:15am
First tracks with only our crew and 30 friends on the mountain before Snowshoe drops the ropes for everyone else! We will fine tune how we are limiting first tracks on Sunday soon. This is an INVITATION ONLY event.

I won't make the summit. I'll be arriving Sunday for 4 days, so I'll probably see some of you there.

Sounds like wickedness to me! I like the idea of the snow making plant tour, that would be interesting to see.
I def intend on attending once again this year, always a blast. I'm gonna wait a week or 2 before I book though, in hopes that you guys start throwing more steezy dealz our way.
I hope we get a good dump around that time.
Would be a welcome relief.

I'm ready for the show! Probably my only time on the snow this year.

I'm still curious about a park being blocked off.

I wouldnt think they would do that. Maybe prior to groom for the event, but surely it wouldn't be blocked for the whole weekend.
